A Practice Built on Careful,
Considered Legal Work
Damrong Law was founded to give individuals and families in Thailand access to patient, thorough legal guidance on inheritance and estate matters — without the pressure or complexity they too often encounter elsewhere.
Back to HomeFounded to Make a Thoughtful Difference
Damrong Law was established in Bangkok with a straightforward purpose: to offer individuals navigating inheritance and estate matters an unhurried, attentive legal service. Our founders observed that clients dealing with these subjects — often during emotionally demanding periods — were too frequently hurried through processes they did not fully understand.
The practice takes its name from the Thai concept of order and steady determination, qualities that underpin everything we do. We believe that good legal work is quiet, methodical, and always focused on what matters to the person in front of us.
Our work covers three areas: preparing wills for those who wish to set their affairs in order, guiding families through the administration of an estate after a loss, and representing those whose inheritance matters have become contested. In each case, we move at the pace the situation requires.
Our Guiding Values
Patience
We never push clients toward decisions. Each matter unfolds at the pace that serves the person, not the schedule.
Precision
Documentation prepared by our practice receives full attention. Errors in estate filings create complications that are entirely avoidable.
Respect
We recognise the personal weight of inheritance matters and bring a respectful, discreet approach to every client relationship.
Clarity
Plain language throughout. Legal processes explained without jargon so clients understand each step before it is taken.
The People Behind the Practice
A small, focused team — each member chosen for their knowledge and for the care they bring to client work.
Somchai Damrong
Founding Partner
Called to the Thai Bar with over eighteen years focused on estate and succession law. Somchai established the practice after years in a larger firm, to work more closely with individual clients.
Natcha Wongkul
Senior Associate
Natcha leads on estate administration matters and court filings, with particular experience assisting families through the months following a loss. Known for steady, clear communication.
Prawit Lertsiri
Associate — Dispute Matters
Prawit advises on contested inheritance cases, with a background in Thai civil litigation. He takes a measured approach, exploring resolution before proceeding to formal representation.
How We Maintain the Quality of Our Work
Thai Bar Membership
All qualified solicitors at Damrong Law hold current membership with the Lawyers Council of Thailand, maintaining standing under the Thai Lawyers Act.
Document Review Process
Every will and estate filing is reviewed by a second qualified member of the team before submission, to minimise the risk of avoidable errors.
Client Confidentiality
All client information is held in confidence under professional duty. We do not share case details with third parties, and data is stored securely at all times.
Court Filing Accuracy
Estate administration requires precise documentation for Thai civil court. We follow established checklists for each filing type, adapted to the specifics of each matter.
Ongoing Legal Development
The team participates in regular professional development relating to Thai inheritance legislation and related civil law developments, to ensure advice remains current.
Client Communication Standard
We aim to respond to all written enquiries within one working day, and to keep clients informed of progress without waiting to be asked.
Inheritance Law Expertise in Bangkok
Damrong Law operates from Lumphini, one of Bangkok's established professional districts, within reach of the central civil courts and the offices of most notaries. Our focus on inheritance and estate matters is deliberate: by concentrating on a defined area of law, we develop a depth of knowledge that broader practices do not always sustain.
Thai inheritance law encompasses a range of formal requirements — from the witnesses needed to validate a will to the appointment of estate administrators by the court. For foreign nationals with assets in Thailand, there are additional considerations relating to property ownership structures and how a Thai will interacts with legal instruments prepared abroad. We are familiar with these intersections and advise accordingly.
When a family member passes away, the period that follows involves both emotional difficulty and administrative obligation. Gathering assets, settling liabilities, corresponding with financial institutions, and completing court procedures takes time and knowledge. We take on that work — or as much of it as is helpful — so that those most affected can focus on what matters most to them.
We welcome enquiries from individuals at any stage: those who are planning ahead and wish to put a will in place, those managing an estate following a bereavement, and those who find themselves in a disagreement about how an inheritance has been handled. Each situation is treated with the same degree of care and without judgement.
